The 50th reunion of graduates of Little Rock High School will be special
because you will be there.
Pavilions 3-6 at Murray Park have been reserved for a casual barbecue at
4 p.m. Friday, April 25. Dinner to be served at 5:30 will include delicious
barbecue, potato salad, beans, slaw, chips, lemonade and soft drinks. There
are picnic tables in the small pavilions, but bring lawn chairs to enjoy
the view of the Arkansas River.
To reach Murray Park turn north off Cantrell Road at Riverfront Drive.
There is a traffic light there and a Harvest Foods store on the corner. Go
three miles on Riverfront Drive to our pavilions. Stop by the registration
table to pick up your packet which will include your nametag and a
directory.
At 10 a.m. on Saturday morning we’ll tour our alma mater. Around 11 a.m.
there will a memorial service in the school auditorium. Then, let’s gather
for a group picture on the school’s front steps.
At 6 on Saturday night there will be a reception and dinner at the Little
Rock Club. The seated dinner to be served at 7 p.m. will include both
tenderloin and chicken Marsala plus a salad, vegetables, tea and coffee.
Music will be by the Betty Fowler Trio. There will a short program and
there’s an area for dancing.
The Little Rock Club, with its panoramic view of the city, is on the 30th
floor of Regions Bank at Fourth and Broadway. Fourth Street is one way
headed east so get in the right lane on Fourth to make the turn into the
free parking deck. Take the garage elevator to the 2nd floor and then walk
through the building to the building elevators going to the 30th floor.
A Hospitality Room at the Marriott Courtyard, 10900 Financial Centre
Parkway (an extension of I-630) will be open from noon until 3:30 p.m. on
Friday and from noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday. The room will be open for
all, not just those staying at that motel. Come by to visit and have
refreshments. Bring photos and memorabilia to share.
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Marriott. Rates plus tax are
$54 single, $65 double, suite $129. Their toll free number is 800-321-2211
and remember to request the special rates for LRHS.

The cost of the barbecue on Friday is $15 and the event at the Little
Rock Club is $45 or a package price for both events is $55. Your
reservation should be returned so that we receive it no later than Friday,
April 11. We have to give a list on April 14 to the company printing our
nametags. Also we need a final count for the restaurants providing our
dinners.
Please send the registration form with your check so that we can update our
directory before it is printed and have information for the nametags.

CLASS OF '53 GATHERING IN '03

Dear '53 class member:
We are pleased that we have already heard from many classmates who are planning to attend
our 50th LRHS class reunion, including several who have never attended a
reunion.
The festivities will begin April 25th with a barbecue Friday afternoon
at Murray Park on Rebsamen Park Road on the banks of the Arkansas River. We
are renting four covered pavilions so we are prepared in case of inclement
weather. In addition to BBQ the menu will include potato salad, beans, slaw,
chips, lemonade and soft drinks. The cost will be $15 per person. This will
be a very casual affair with lots of time for visiting.
Saturday morning we will meet at the high school for a tour inside the
school and a group picture outside showing this beautiful, historic
landmark. Many improvements to the school are under way since it was
designated a National landmark in 1982. A memorial service for our deceased
classmates will be held in the school auditorium with the Rev. Reggie Nalls
officiating.
Saturday evening the Little Rock Club located atop the Regions Bank
building at Fourth and Broadway will be the site for the seated banquet.
Free parking is provided in the bank's adjacent parking deck. Entertainment
will be provided by the Betty Fowler Trio. Cost is $45 per person.
A package price per person will be $55 for both Friday's barbecue and
the Saturday evening dinner. The next mailing will have the registration
form included. We will not be able to select the menu for the dinner until
after the first of the year so more details will be sent in our next
mailing. Plans for a Sunday brunch have been dropped.
The expenses for the reunion in addition to the cost of food include
several mailings, rental of facilities for events, guarantee of required
number of meals, printing of directories, decorations, Hospitality Room
(at the Marriott) refreshments, etc.
